Cata 4.0 content completed

Two days ago Paragon defeated Sinestra, a heroic mode only boss in Bastion of Twilight. Today Dream  of TW-Silverwing Hold killed the 10-man version of Al'Akir, arguably one of the hardest encounters ever implemented.

So as of today, every hard-mode encounter has been defeated in either 10-man or 25-man!

4.0.6 patch balance and feral changes

In 4.0.6 balance and feral druids will NOT be able to shift out of root effects. That means feral will have an even harder time getting to mages, and balance will have complete mobility failure when combined with the change to our instant cast roots glyph.  When picking the restoration tree, restoration druids will get a new passive ability that allows them to shift out of roots.

Main things to know about 4.0.6:
Balance:
Wild mushrooms will be instant cast, deal 30% more damage, double in fungal growth size, and be more responsive when triggering.
Moonkin form will no longer grant 120% bonus armor, but instead grant 15% damage reduction from all sources.
Starfall will no longer hit targets that are not in combat.

Feral:
Rip and Rake damage reduced by 10%, but shred/mangle/ and white hits will hit harder.
Bear form Fury Swipes damage reduced, as well as bear form white hits.

Meta gem change: About time!

Posted in the 4.0.6 patch notes:

Jewelcrafting
  • Meta gems with the Chaotic and Relentless prefixes now have a requirement of 3 red gems.
  • New meta gems have been added: Agile Shadowspirit Diamond (Agility/3% critical damage), Reverberating Shadowspirit Diamond (Strength/3% critical damage), and Burning Shadowspirit Diamond (Intellect/3% critical damage). These new recipes are unbound and can drop from any Cataclysm creature. The new meta gems have a requirement of 3 red gems equipped.

Thank goodness. More blue than red was a ridiculous req. for both of those metas. The pattern prices for the new one is going to insane no doubt.

Update: Aiming High

The bugged quest Aiming High has been fixed. It used to  be you had to run directly into the cannon until you got lucky and it would finally shoot you in. I wasn't able to get launched until 30 tries, some got it on the first shot!

Thats all in the past now, Aiming High has been fixed and you should be able to complete it without any problems.

Feral tips

I'll list here some tips for gearing your feral druid for cat dps.
Stat priority is Agility > Mastery > Crit > Everything else

Gemming
  • Red: Delicate (Agility)
  • Yellow: Adept (Agility + Mastery)
  • Blue: Shifting (Agility + Stamina)
Glyphs
  • Prime:  Shred and Rip are must have. The 3rd prime should either be Tiger's Fury or Berserk, there is still a lot of debate about which is best. I personally use Berserk.
  • Major: Not a lot of great major glyphs for cat spec, but Feral Charge is good if you're talented in Stampede,  Entangling roots is great for heroics as it allows you to be a viable CC on melee targets. I use glyph of Innervate right now to help out the healers since mana is a huge issue for them,  but you can swap it out for Faerie Fire, or even Maul if you find yourself going into bear frequently. Rebirth is also a pretty good major glyph if you are one of your raid's battle rezzers.
  • Minor: Again, kind of crap for feral. Unburdend Rebirth, Aquatic Form, and Dash seem to be the only viable ones.
Rotation
  • Feral rotation is more of a list of priorities. You should keep up the following buffs/debuffs and prioritize them in this order.
    • Mangle
    • Rip
    • Rake
    • Savage Roar

I'll post up some links to guides tomorrow. There are a couple good lists of pre-raid gear to aim for which really helped me out to get ready for Blackwing Descent.

Feral dps

I joined a raiding guild to get a taste of current end game pve! We downed Magmaw 25man and he dropped a ton of cloth gear. I'm pretty sure our priests got them which is cool because it will help with heals for Omnotron. That fight is a loooong fight and they'll need the mana regen. As feral dps I came in 4th place under two hunters and an elemental shaman. I did ~13k dps on magmaw and was at ~11k dps on our Omnotron attempts.

I've got a 346 moonkin set now, and I'm thinking about switching to moonkin for my main raiding spec as the more I read on the raiding progression it seems melee is very undesirable in a lot of the upcoming raid encounters.
