Rift 1.3: Waves of Madness - My Current Favorite Prefix Title

My current favorite prefix title in Rift is still ' the Shady ' because I think that " Dirk the Shady " looks very cool, and " Grim Dirk the Shady " looks very very cool!

How to get "Sir/Dame" Prefix Title Achievement in Rift

Using the Rift Dev Tracked I spotted this great post about some interesting issues with the Sir or Dame titles, and how to make sure you meet all of the requirements for the achievement.

Using the Rift Dev Tracked I spotted this great post about some interesting issues with the Sir or Dame titles, and how to make sure you meet all of the requirements for the achievement.

Developer: Tacitus
Hey there, everyone!
There has been a lot of interest and excitement about the title of "Sir" or "Dame", but unfortunately a lot of confusion and miscommunication as well. As one of the designers that worked on the Marshal Kain story quests, I wanted to help clear up this subject a little.

First, this title represents a knighthood from the Sanctuary Guards. It represents the conclusion of the Marshal Kain story line on the Guardian side. As such, it is a Guardian only title. A great many of our titles are faction specific, and this one is no exception. I cannot say if this or an equivalent title might be made available to Defiants at some point in the future.

Second, as this does represent the conclusion of the Marshal Kain story arc, this reward is given after all 3 pieces of his story are completed, in Scarwood, Iron Pine, and Stillmoor. There are no notoriety requirements or other achievements needed. I have just made some changes that will shorten the delay between completing all three quests and getting the reward in the mail. The final quests in each of the three story arcs are: "The Last Command" (Scarwood Reach), "One Soldier to Another" (Iron Pine Peak), and "Past Is Prologue" (Stillmoor).

Third, while making the above changes, I did find a bug that would cause the Sanctum Messenger that gives the quest "Past Is Prologue" in Thalin Tor to not spawn. This has also been fixed. Once this fix is Live, if you have been trying to find this Messenger, return to the steps in front of Thalin Tor, and she should appear. Until then, going to Thalin Tor immediately after a server reset increases your odds of making the Messenger show up.

Fourth, even though it is not directly related to the title of Sir or Dame, there has also been some question about the essence rewards of Necrotic Rage or Necrotic Semblance. These are also rewards related to the Marshal Kain story (and as such, are Guardian only rewards as well) and are given sometimes after the completion of the Iron Pine Peak arc of the Marshal Kain story. I say sometimes because the conditions under which we sent the essence were a bit convoluted and the net result was that a player could easily block themselves from getting this reward depending on where they went after Iron Pine (mainly, going to Stillmoor before Shimmersand would prevent the player from getting this mail). We were unsatisfied with the result of this, and I recently made some changes there as well. When this change goes Live, any player that has completed the Iron Pine arc of Marshal Kain's story will be offered a quest to get one of these essences from Sergeant Coda in Thalin Tor if they have not already been sent the mail from Sir Martyn Myrsol.

These changes still need to be tested and verified before being scheduled for going Live, so I do not know what the timeframe is for rolling out these changes onto the servers.

Hopefully this will clarify things a bit.

Cheers,Tacitus.
Also:
It's been a bit, but I wanted to touch base in this thread with a few more items.

First, based on player comments, it appears that there is STILL an edge case that is breaking and causing the Messenger to stop spawning. The current set-up has proven to be too unreliable, so I am changing the quest giver for "Past Is Prologue" from the Messenger to Donal Sumptor (Kain's steward who is already in Thalin Tor). This change should be in patch 1.2.

Second, the change that is supposed to make Sergeant Coda (in Thalin Tor, Stillmoor) offer the Necrotic essences to qualifying players is still not Live. It appears to have been scheduled in the 1.2 patch, which is a shame since I made the fix a while ago, but at least it is finally on the horizon.

Third, there has been a lot of confusion from players that think they have met all of the prerequisites for the Sir/Dame title, but have not. Part of this is because there is no quest players can view to confirm exactly which quests they have done. This is further exacerbated when players view their achievements and see that they have completed X/X quests for a zone. The impression is that achievement signifies that they have done ALL of the quests, but the achievement doesn't require all quests, just most. SO... I am going to add an NPC to Sanctum that players can speak to and inquire how they may go about being knighted. This NPC will point players to which section of the Kain story they may have not yet completed. I am implementing that now, so no ETA on that. But I figure it would help put more information into the hands of the players, which isn't a bad thing.
Cheers,
Tacitus.
And:
The whole Messenger aspect is gone (as of 1.2). I rewrote the related quest text to convey the same story, and made Donal the quest giver since he is always there (barring a Rift invasion).

Until then, the old (frustrating) standby of heading to Thalin Tor after a server restart seems the best option, for which I sincerely apologize.

Cheers,Tacitus.

And a little info from the 1.2 patch notes regarding this title.

SANCTUM* Guardian players wondering how they can be knighted as a member of the Sanctuary Guard can now speak to Sir Guysun Lawless in the Lodge of the Planes to the rear of Sanctum. Sir Guysun can direct those seeking this honor to where they may have prerequisite quests incomplete. [Kain storyline quests]

How to Add a Character Prefix or Title and Show Nameplate

You have probably seen players with titles like ‘Grim’ , ‘High Constable’ and ‘Freemarch Conquerer’ riding around in Meridian and Sanctum in Rift: Planes of Telara. The titles you see are titles earned by completing achievements that award titles or prefixes! You can add available titles at any time by going to your character window [‘C’ by default] and selecting ‘Titles’ from the left-hand menu.

From this menu, you can select both a ‘Prefix’ title (which appears before your name) and a ‘Suffix’ title (which appears after your name).

By default, you can’t see your own nameplate. By going to the Options menu hit ‘Esc’ > Settings > Interface > Names and checking ‘Show Your Name’ you can make it so you see your own nameplate, not just other players. This will affix a nameplate above your character. Even if you don’t keep this enabled all the time it’s useful to make sure you’re happy with the way your title looks.

Rift 1.2 : Best Rift Strategy Guide

Rift Strategy Guide Review:
Xerxes Rift Mastery Guide

If you're anything like me in Rift, you want to have an edge over the competition. Especially with a new game like Rift: Planes of Telara, I know that getting a good guide early on is the key to success.

I did a bunch of research on all the top guides I could find and finally picked one, and I've got to say I couldn't be happier! Xerxes Rift Guide is what its called, and the maps are what really did it for me. This guide came with such amazing detailed maps for every zone, I had one up on my other screen the entire time I played.

I leveled a Defiant Mage using their leveling and soul build guides, but theres an equally comprehensive guide for starting a Guardian character. I leveled with their Warlock / Necromancer / Chloromancer build and DESTROYED everything I came up against. I was taking on 5+ mobs that were my level or 1-2 levels higher at a time because of the insane self-heals this build has.

What stood out to me:
  • All 4 Callings Guides
  • PVP Builds
  • Raiding Builds
  • Best Leveling Builds
  • Comprehensive Leveling Guides for Every Calling and Faction
  • High Quality & Detailed Maps

All Rift players (yourself included) will be searching for the best soul tree combinations possible for your character. The Xerxes guide has SO many builds guides, which are AMAZINGLY USEFUL. You will find the most fine-tuned and tested combinations for your role/character, as well as detailed strategies for pvp based on your calling – e.g. PVP Mage vs Rogues. The Dungeon and Warfront guides are also really good.

I’ve bought the guide, lots of players have also bought this guide, and Xerxes Guide really exceeded my expectations (and will exceed your expectations as well).
There is a 60-day No Questions Asked Money-back Guarantee, so you don’t have to worry about anything. Let Xerxes Guide provide you with the best rift information. YOU WILL Enjoy Rift More with Xerxes, Guaranteed!

If you're into guides like me, check this one out and you will thank me, its called Xerxes Guide.
So in the long run it really comes down to this: Is Xerxes Rift Mastery Guide worth it?

Yes.

Rift 1.2 : Interesting post from Riftgame.com about the Droughtlands

Below is a quote from riftgame.com about the Droughtlands. Check it out!
================---------------------------=============
                                                   [QUOTE]
=======================-----------=================

Droughtlands

Fallen into dustEven those unschooled in Telara’s history would see at once that the Droughtlands were not always barren. Leaving Freemarch for this desert, travelers see the ruins of proud towers and mighty walls dotting the landscape like the shattered bones of a fallen giant. Worn smooth by sandstorms and centuries, these tumbledown stones number among the final remnants of the Eth Empire.
Once the heart of civilization and progress, the lost cities of the Eth draw hungry eyes across Telara. Ascended, dragon cultists, rift spawn, and unaffiliated explorers all seek to harvest the riches and knowledge that may lie hidden beneath the shifting sands.Trouble in the Hook
A vast rock formation stands in the heart of the Droughtlands, called Lantern Hook for its resemblance to… well, a giant lantern’s hook. Within lies a city of the same name, where merchants hock their wares in well-lit caves. Paths wind in and out of the stones, leading sometimes to beautiful vistas, and sometimes to a seedy and dangerous underbelly.
For Lantern Hook has its share of dangers, as criminals host illegal gambling dens in out-of-the-way stone chambers, and squeeze the merchants for protection money. The Lantern Hook Irregulars toil to clean up the passages, but it’s easy to hide dirty deals and worse in the sprawling caves under the Hook. Former brigands themselves, the Irregulars have plenty of experience dealing with criminals, but they may need help from the immortal Ascended to end the crime wave.
“Ahh, now this place brings me joy,” said Sothul, leader of the Stormbrood, to his lieutenant.
“Look at it, Morkael! The sun scalding your scales, and searing sand between your claws. Wild herds of centaur roam the dunes, hunting and feasting on helpless travelers. See the harpies soar between the ruins of ancient folly! Ruins! What better gift for the Flame Sire than the hollow bones of civilization? I hear the yapping of kobolds by night, and there are even cyclopes to fight in the hills when these Ascended grow tedious. Heat and ruins and endless monsters!"
“This, Morkael, is the paradise Maelforge will make for us across all Telara!”
Raiders of the ruins
From Lantern Hook, adventurers can strike out for any of the perilous regions of the Droughtlands, where they will encounter the desert’s various factions, only a few of whom will greet the Ascended with anything but hungry maws. The most reasonable by far are the Arcane Hand, a neutral order of scholars devoted to reviving Eth culture and learning without the irresponsible use of technology.
Another group willing to tolerate outsiders is, surprisingly, the Trumasi cyclops tribe. These brutes have lived in the Droughtlands since the Age of Dragons, casting off their service to Laethys. If an Ascended can prove as strong and savage as a cyclops, the Trumasi might even pledge their aid against enemy rift-spawn who’ve come to ravage the desert.
Such mighty allies are a necessity in a scorching wasteland where centaur bands devour sentient meat, and kobolds chase trappers from their hunting grounds. Harpies soar between the desiccated towers of the Eth, unwittingly guarding ancient wonders and perhaps even the secret of why these glorious cities fell.
Worst of all, the Stormbrood of Maelforge has invaded the Droughtlands, a Dragonian warband who seek only to further the aims of their rapacious god. Dragonians are the Flame Sire’s favored strategists and their presence can only mean that Maelforge will not be satisfied until the desert is a sea of jagged glass.

Rift Planes of Telara : talents builder

Rift Talent Builder

If you're looking for an amazing rift talent (soul) calculator or builder, I know just the site for you.

There is an on-page program at rift.zam.com featuring an amazing talent builder for Rift. In Planes of Telara the key to success in warfronts is a perfectly planned soul ( talent ) build. The rift builder at rift.zam.com is great, something worth checking out.

Plently of talent builds and rift talent builders out there don't compare to how easy rift.zam's is to work. I use it for all of my classes and soul builds, talent  builds in rift. I used this builder on my mage and scout classes when I needed a great talent build to get the grim prefix.

Also you might want to fine-tone your soul build in the rift.zam talent rift builder if you're going to be trying the Stalking Prey quest.

Overall, if you want a great rift builder, talent builder, rift soul calc, or rift soul calculator, rift.zam.com is the place to go.
